Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, and is considered his most darkest and powerful works. In the play, Macbeth receives a prophecy to become future King of Scotland from the witches ultimately driving him to murder Duncan. Throughout the play, Macbeth secures his kingship by committing more sins with his wife Lady Macbeth, but is killed at the end of the play making Duncan's son the rightful King of Scotland. Macbeth's greed for money and power teaches the audience valuable lessons surrounding earning kingship rather than stealing it from others.
